Already SCRAP is becoming a hub for craftinistas in Denton to meet, greet and get their craft on. SCRAP Denton hosted the local chapter of the National Craftsy Meet-Up on January 26. Nationally, 2,204 people in 628 cities partied with their creative neighbors. In Denton, about 20 showed up for the networking/material swap/craft night. When SCRAP Denton opened its doors for its first day of operation at noon on January 5, something extraordinary happened. When SCRAPper-in-Chief Donna Gregory put the key in the lock, the bells of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church began to peel. If ever there was a good omen for success, that was it.

I arrived the afternoon of the event to help and advise on the finer points of a successful fundraiser. Well, the role of advisor was completely unnecessary. D had this event dialed. It was well organized and not a detail overlooked. I was scrambling for suggestions in order to be a helpful advisor. Every idea I tossed out already had been managed well ahead of the event.

When last we checked in, SCRAP Denton had found a home – and a spectacular home at that. It’s true what they say: Location, location, location. Plus space, light and fixtures.
