Things We Can’t Accept

Some things are just not meant for SCRAP. Please find creative ways to reuse or recycle these items yourself at home or donate them to another reuse organization. See our referral section for a list of places you can take some of these materials.

SCRAP can never accept the following materials:

  • Spray paint
  • Clothing of any kind – not even as fabric
  • Books (unless they are art- or craft-related)
  • Household goods and appliances
  • Knick-knacks – figurines, ornaments, flower pots
  • Furniture
  • Computers, printers, ink cartridges, software
  • Food containers – yogurt tubs, Tupperware or large jars
  • Packing peanuts (bring them to a shipping store)
  • Block Styrofoam
  • Toilet paper or paper towel rolls, egg cartons
  • Baskets
  • Broken glass, dishware, ceramics
  • Toys
  • VHS tapes
  • Sheet glass with no frame
  • Complete games and puzzles
  • Science, news, or other text-heavy magazines

SCRAP is currently not accepting the following materials:

  • Tab dividers
  • Posters
  • Twist ties
  • CDs and CD cases
  • Cassette tapes
  • DVD cases
  • Register tape rolls
  • Binders
  • Hanging folders
  • Manila folders
  • Bubble wrap
  • National Geographic
